The EU-funded project “Circular Economy – Promotion of sustainable production and consumption patterns in Ukraine”

Global objective    →   Contribute to the rendering of Ukrainian economy modern, clean, resource-efficient and competitive, with economic growth decoupled from resource use, and citizens’ health and well- being protected from environment-related risks and impacts.

Specific objectives:
• Establish and map the current state of play of circular economy in Ukraine in terms of policies, legislation, key actors, private sector activities and barriers
• Identify potential opportunities and impacts of a transition to a circular economy in Ukraine for (at least 5 and up to 10) pre-selected priority sectors and value chains
• Develop a Circular Economy Strategy and Action Plan.

The final result of the work is the National Circular Economy Strategy

Intermediate work results will be:
• national policy modeling report
• report on the current legal framework
• comparative analysis of legislation in sectors
• best practices of the closed loop economy
• public procurement strategy
• relevant sources of funding
• industry reports/modelling activities
• development of by-laws

Below is the current status of the Project's implementation phase:

• data collection & analysis
• consultations with the key stakeholders
• elaboration of the economic models and scenarios design
• drafting the national Circular Economy Strategy
• preparation of Circular Economy Action Plan for selected sectors
• launch of communication campaign
